Well according to the installer (which was done in a terminal window from KDE) everything installed fine. I just finished doing it. But I can't find the Menu shortcuts and the startdelphi command is not recognixed.
Could you plesae tell me how ot start the program. I'm anxious to start trying out the compiler.
Thanks

Ok sorry about that. it was "./startdelphi" from the corrent working directory. I'm a not my fault.
But i'd still like to know where the Menu Shortcuts are. However it built up the font system, on the initial run at least, I've yet to close it, and so far so good.
Mind you I'm running Delphi 6.0 on Windows.

Kylix 3 under redhat 9
I have Kylix3 installed and also didn't get any links to the startup scripts under the GNOME desktop, they show up under other on the KDE desktop . I created them on the GNOME desk top and the iDE lanunches but when you rebuild one the example apps and go to run it nothing happens other that hanging the IDE. I set the enviromnet LD_LIBRARY_PATH and also included the Kylix directories in the PATH.
If you have any revilations please reply

Well I installed under KDE and I didn't go to GNOME tosee if the shortcuts were there. However I did what was necessary and got the program running. However executing the program (at least from Kylix) seems to hang the IDE for me too. I've been a little to dissapointed to really fight with it yet.

lets try something else
I reinstaled Kylix3 on my SUSE 8.? ( kernel 2.4.19) box and it runs on it under KDE so the problem has to do with something Red hat did or didn't do
When you install it on SUSE you have to create an etc/profile.local file and put your path and LD_LIBRARY mods in there.
I noticed that this time Kylix installed graphically so what ever it needs to do this on Red Hat 9 is probably not there but needs to be.

It works ... sort of
The upodated update from Borland solved the problem with the IDE not working at all but .... Now we are onto the problem with the linker errors, as described else where in the forum, in the C++ compiler compiling the notepad app. I wonder if the compat libs don't have the routines referenced in them. Can you reference both libs ?? .. will try this next

It works It works
Once the compat libs are installed you are instructed in the readme, to start up the C++ side of the IDE and go to project-->options and edit the default serach paths for the include files and libraries. When I first did this I just entered them in the box on the screen, clicked defailt and closed the window. This resulted in the linker errors when I compiled and linked the notepad example. What I did to fix it was to click the box to the right of the text ,this opens a window that allows you to browse for the paths and choose the order. When you do this then close this window ,check default ,and close the text box window it works. It also remembers the new paths between reboots
