KWrite fills document's margins with Xs

When I type something in KWrite (or paste it in), if the first line of the paragraph is indented, KWrite aligns all subsequent lines to match the indentation, filling the blank space at the left margin with Xs. How can I make it stop? Having every line aligned with the first line defeats the purpose of indenting.

Try: Settings -> Configure kwrite -> Indentation -> and unselect "Automatically Indent"
