Kwifimanager problem

I'm using Mepis 6.0 now. I have installed kwifimanager. My problem is that whenever my laptop detects multiple networks, I can only connect to the network with the highest connectivity (frequeny). Is it possible to choose a network even if the reception is farely good? I've been trying to do this. Do I need to place the SSID on the Mepis Utilities -> Network Interfaces -> Wifi?

You can use the command line
iwlist <interface> scan
iwconfig <interface> essid <SSID>
"iwlist" will show you the available networks, then you can just replace <interface> with eth0 or whatever, and <SSID> with the name of the network you want to connect to. The above is for an unencrypted connection, you may need to add the password parameter for encyprted connections. See the man pages for iwconfig for more info
