Kudzu not working

I previously had Redhat 8 installed but am now using Debian. On RH, I had kudzu installed which would automount my cdroms when they were loaded and on startup. I have installed in again from the debain cd, and it is referenced in my /etc/fstab, but does not work. When I su and run kudzu, it messes up my mouse driver, making it click on anything and everything, and staying in the bottom left cornerof the screen.
Is there an easy way to get kudzu working, or a better way to automount my cdrom drives?

Hi.

kudzu doesn't automount CD-ROMS, it just looks for new hardware when you start your machine.

If you want to run kudzu after you've booted, then do so with the -s argument, as this will stop the mouse problem you've observed.

There's a utility called 'automount' which is supplied as part of KDE (I think) which, as the name suggests, automounts CD-ROMs.
