Kubuntu Problems
 

I just downloaded a Kubuntu LiveCD to try out. It boots up and then freezes at the desktop screen. Can anyone offer me an explanation?

There can be a million of reasons. Wrong videocard driver is one of them. Not enough memory is another (128MB is the absolute minimum for 6.06).
You need to dig through your log-files (in /var/log) to see what's wrong.

I'm not familiar with live CDs, so can not really advice how to continue.

If you want to install it, I suggest that you download the alternate CD. And don't forget to burn at low speed.

did you check to make sure you got a good download

I think Kubuntu 6.10 might me too much for my laptop. I might switch to another distro.

yeah, it usually happens on computers without enough RAM. Try something lighter, such as Puppy Linux.

I am going to try DSL. It's my first time using Linux so maybe I'll have better luck with it.
