kubuntu packages

Hey, i recently installed kubuntu 6.10 works great and all, but not when i try to install something.
Like today i tried to install aMSN. I started with ./configure. And somewhere during the configuration it gave an error that it missed libpng, and after that libjpeg, i also needed to install g++ etc etc.

I've managed to install all of that with the 'sudo apt-get' command. But i would like to know if theres a quicker way to view all the availible package and install the ones i need.

hi,

try searching the ubuntu repository for the aMSN package, its easier than to compile it yourself. I suggest using the gui package manager.

goto http://ubuntuguide.org.

There is a nice repository collection.
put them in your "/etc/apt/source.list"
run "sudo apt-get update".

Now you can get all the things you need.
see the website for more information.
