Ktorrent & Torrenting

I am trying to make a torrent of a video file to send to a relative, I have tried several times to make the .torrent file and email to, though all attempts I get nothing. I read about trackers and found the free openbittorrent tracker link, though still the download will not start. Have plenty of bandwidth, seeding is on and set to superseed. I have tried both private and non private settings. Not sure what I am doing wrong..... : (

Also, I have been using Ktorrent to create and upload the file....Going to try Kget?

Have you tried opening ktorrent, clicking on the FILE menu and then selecting "New" and filling in the information?

More than several times. I experimented with a laptop, and it never said a download was happening, though it seems it made the file transfer at some point because it showed up on the laptop randomly. Though it would not play. I read they say to upload the file to the tracker? Or some server, which you then re-download from? Sounded like a mess to me, just a little video about to sign up for dropbox.

Is it peer to peer completely?? Or do you have to upload the file to some server? --having a hard time wrapping my head around this one..
