when ever i download a torrent using Ktorrent after couple of minutes of download it shows
Code:
Error: Cannot open index file /home/myriadmagus/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/tor0/index : Too many open files
under the status column ...
wat is this suppose to mean and wat is the remedy for this
and its ktorrent 2.1.4 which came along with the PClinuxOS itself
thanks
First I would upgrade to the latest version of Ktorrent(2.2.6) to see if that resolves my problem. Try using Ktorrent without routing it via tor. Using tor for your torrents is not good for the tor network.

"try using Ktorrent without routing it via tor. Using tor for your torrents is not good for the tor network."
i little bit more elaborate explanation .....
thank you !!!!
and do i have to upgrade using synaptic or download source ???
if source then i need to know wat all the commands i must use to compile and install from the source codes using konsole
..Error: Cannot open index file /home/myriadmagus/.kde/share/apps/ktorrent/tor0/index : Too many open files...
My apologies I assumed you were using the tor anonymous routing network to download, I now realise the tor in this instance is short for torrent.
Yes you can update ktorrent via the package manager synaptic. Before you do so, I suggest you hit the reload button, then hit the mark all upgrades button and continue from there.
ok Mr.{BBI}Nexus{BBI} i got problem...
after the upgrade i restarted the comp. at the login screen after entering the name and password ... it showed a dialog box saying unable to initialize kdeinit and then the screen went blank well the thing is .. i re-installed pclinuxos once again ... now do i update ktorrent ??? is there any bugs or something in this pclinuxos .... ?? wat do i do if this happens again .. ???
You only need to reboot after an upgrade to use the new kernel that gets installed. If you only want to upgrade ktorrent, then hit the reload button don't bother with the mark all upgrades button, instead hit the search button and enter ktorrent in the search box then select it for install.
the thing was the first time itself i just hit the ktorrent for upgrade in the package manager ... but then after restarting it showed the above error i mentioned ....

Have you tried it again? Another thing you could do instead of upgrading is to configure ktorrent to limit the amount of connections that are used. By default it is set to zero limit.
actually right now i installed pclinuxos 2007 for the third time in 2 days ....
any update or new installation i carry out using package manager the following restart it shows cant initialize kdeinit so i am going to be happy with wat is there ... get a hang of pclinuxos and then since many say that the best way to learn linux is to do from scratch maybe the install i do i'll try to go for that if you valuable tips/website/ebook for linux from scratch pls do give
Which filesystem are you using? How many open files can you have according to the "ulimit" command? If you have the "sysconf" command, try "sysconf(OPEN_MAX)" or "sysconf(SC_OPEN_MAX)".

note: For some reason, the route to google.analytics & cachfly.net doesn't complete so I didn't get an "Edit" button to correct my previous post.
