Ksmoothdock 3.5.1 sets home page on Firefox 1.0.7

Hi,

I am using Ksmoothdock 3.5.1 and Firefox 1.0.7. The problem I'm having is this: Whenever I start Firefox from the button I created on the Ksmoothdock panel, it opens www .arizona .edu, while I set my homepage in Firefox to open a blank page. But when I open a new window from within Firefox, it does display a blank page. I changed the home page settings in Firefox through Edit >> Preferences >> General to display www .google .com, restarted it from Ksmoothdock and still got www .arizona .edu. But when I opened a new window in firefox, it displayed www .google .com.

I then opened Firefox through the normal KDE menu and guess what, it displayed www .google .com. This leads me to believe that there is something wrong with Ksmoothdock.

I vaguely remember downloading a library from a mirror site from a university and after a google search it turns out that they host a debian mirror site, at URL mirrors.engr.arizona.edu/debian/.

The homepage of Ksmoothdock says that Ksmoothdock relies on "- Libraries used: KDE 3.2 (or above)". Could it be that I downloaded a library from the Arizona mirror site that is corrupt and tells Firefox to open www .arizona .edu instead of the home page as set in the preference file? And if so, how do I locate and replace this library? Or am I missing something here?

Thanks.

Take a look at the command in Ksmoothdock. Is it set to "firefox %u"?

If so, remove the %u from the command.

Hey, thanks, it worked.

But what's the difference?

basically it's doing a google lookup for %u...

if you go to google.com and enter %u into the search the university of arizona is the first entry in the results.

there are many different combinations....%k should take you to http://www.kde.org/
