Hello to everyone. Some kde application some times dont start... and if i cant even launch them even if i reissue the commands. The only way to face this problem is to restart the computer (or the X) which is really something annoying.
Fore eaxmple now i have preseed alt+f2 and typed kscd
The kscd programme never appeared
In konsole i can see one instance rynning

But unfortnately I cant see it nowhere in the graphical environment so i cant use it
I have tried to kill it using killall kscd and reexecure the command from the console
but i received the following message

Any proposals? Plz help me i need a pc without many reboots

since it works on reboot, me thinks you have a process that is hijacking it and one of the culprits is artsd.

2) go into kde control centre and select sound the snd system stay in general tab///
check the autosuspend box and set it really small

click on apply and test kscd.......yes I know it works on reboot but keep on retrying until you think you have emulated the previous issue

3) if no luck now (and only now) click on hw tab and change the sound system to alsa instead of auto-detect

retest

4) if no luck exit kde sound and re-config kscd (yes you may have to reboot)

click on extras then config

(I have a wire running to sound card to allow direct digital playback...so my settings may differ to yours

in the cdrom section I have /dev/cdrom......audio backend...arts...audio device /dev/dsp


the trick is ....yours may differ so just try various settings knowing your own hardware and knowing when you have the correct sound quality....good luck
