Krdc: VNC does not allow me to type or use the mouse

I've been using Krdc (vnc) between several Linux boxes and never had a problem. Setting up the server through Krfb is a breeze.

However, on this box [It has Slack 12.1 (full install) with native kernel and no particular modification], I can only watch its screen, but both my mouse and my keyboard are useless. In all other aspects, communication with the other workstations within the local network is adequate (Samba, NFS, email, jabber, ssh, ftp, httpd, etc.). It works as if I had chosen "View only" on the Krdc menu.

I would appreciate some tip as to how to troubleshoot this issue (what to check for).

Thanks for reading this.

on the server end there should be "interact with desktop" option that would need to be checked
