KPresenter - is KDE really alive and well?

I just installed Slackware 12.2 ( because I trashed my root directory and the backup turned out to be broke).

Tried to open a .pps file with KPresenter and the result was bug 113823:
Quote:
Opened: 2005-10-04 07:53 When importing a pps file Kpresenter shows a popup "Missing export filter" that wrongly says "Could not export file". When you press the OK button, the popup appears again. You can click as many times you won't, the popup comes again and so the app is blocked, and must be killed
Note that the bug was opened a little more that 3 years ago; there was another posting to the bug report in July 2008 --- with no response - that is why I ask if KDE is still alive and well.

Which version of KOffice do you have? The current version is 1.6.3 (though you can go to 2.0 beta 4 if you like being bleeding edge) Homepage is http://www.koffice.org/kpresenter/

It does look as though no one is looking at older bugs. On the other hand, and this is not ideal, OpenOffice.org 2.4.1 can open and run the .pps file. If this is a problem for you, switching to OOo will fix it. Ideally though, the KPresenter team would fix the bug.
