KPPP setup for dial-up internet connection (Indian ISP)...

Hi All,

Having problems connecting to my Indian ISP - DishnetDSL (Tata Indicom) using KPPP...

Basically this is what I have done... ran kppp as root, setup a new account, phone no, DNS name (ddsl.net in my case), keyed in my username and password and clicked Connect.

I got the following log messages after I clicked Connect :-

ATZ
OK
ATM1L1
OK
ATDT172226
After this I got a line quoting the speed of the connection...sorry I cannot remember that line!

Finally, i got the timeout error for faiure to bring up ppp interface

In the terminal I found these messages...

Couldnt find interface ppp0: No such device
...
ppp exited with return value 9

Some one suggested me to check up ppp interface with the following command: ifup ppp ; but i got an error message stating ppp0 not found.

Is there anything I have to do to bring up ppp0 interface?

Can anyone please guide me through the process of setting up kppp properly? Indians out there plsss....if you are using the same ISP...

Many Thanks,
