Kppp not hangup modem
How can I let kppp hangup modem automatically when I disconnect? I am using a pctel winmodem. I have installed the driver, surfed the net no problems but I just discovered this problem when somebody tried to phone me and said the phone was engaged all the time. I know it has something to do with kppp because it is okay when I clse my linux session.

???
Are you saying that kppp is detecting the ring, picking up, and then not sending an initialization command to the modem??? I'm unclear as to your problem. |
It is working as it should when I connect to my ISP. I tried the problem just now. When I click on disconnect in kppp I am disconnected from the net . But when I try to use the phone, the line of which is being shared with the modem,I get a 'busy' tone not a continues dial tone from the phone.
This is only remedied if I close the linux session or I unplug the modem from the phone socket and put it back in again. Strange huh?!. |
type as root:
killall kppp as long as you shutdown the service it should disengage. |
