What is the meaning of distro?Dos it have the same meaning with operating system? When I installed this system, it installed this software at the same tiom.I used kpppload-1.04-46.i386.rpm this package to install this software.Do you find it?

My kppp was in a kdebase-kppo rpm.

Distro/distribution/flavour of linux is which default configuration you installed basically. Linux is still linux as the kernel is practically identical with all distros, and they all run the same programs. It's just that different companies release different distros as they think people will like the default settings and tweaks they've added. Distros include RedHat, Mandrake, Suse, Gentoo, Slackware...the list goes on.

What would be advisable, the file in kde.org(usually tar.gz) or the distro specific file(kdebasexxx.rpm)?

Distro rpm, as it's already configured for where things normally reside for the distro, eg in /usr/share not /usr/local/share :)
Mandrake rpms are usually compiled for 586 processors already, so there's little difference in speed from compiling source, compared to the generic 386.rpms elsewhere.
