kopete password error

i'm having trouble logging on to aol using:

Kopete 0.9.0

it repeatedly says my password is wrong. i can logon to aol.com and use my screen-name/password just fine, but not with kopete. can i use special characters with my password ($%^&)? or perhaps i need a different oscar address or something?

it is really odd. i can logon to their web-site just fine to check aol web-mail, so it doesn't seem like a keyboard layout problem. perhaps there is a special-character bug for aim or kopete.

More than likely AOL has updated their network protocol since the program you are using was last updated. Basically you are screwed until you use another program or they update their program, or AOL backtracks.
