Kopete and proxy

I can connect to the internet etc, , i just cant connect kopete. This messenger doesnt have its own proxy setup, so all my proxy congifuration is in network setting:

http: port 6588
https: port 6588
ftp: port 21

any suggestions on how to get Kopete to work? do I have to configure SOCKS too? If so, how would I do that?

Please help...newbie here!

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
