konqueror: unwanted page reload problems

greetings

I'm having problems with konqueror

what happens is it keeps reloading pages without anything being clicked
so i'll be half way through reading a page when it goes blank and reloads again

this happens so much as to make it almost unusable

usually I use firefox, but I cannot get my email program (sylpheed claws) to use firefox as it's default browser so have set it to use konqueror instead

is there a reason for this behaviour ?

there is a possibility that the scroll wheel on the mouse might be causing this, because scrolling down seems to be what starts the reload

On most wheel mice, the wheel is also the middle button.
Pressing the middle button pastes what is in the clipboard into the "location" box, and loads it.
So what you are doing is accidentally PRESSING the wheel instead of ROLLING the wheel. This is pasting the link and reloading it.
Work arounds:
1] Be more careful.
2] Clear your clipboard
2] Take your mouse apart and increase the pressure needed to PRESS the scroll wheel.

based on your reply I opened konqueror, loaded a page and clicked the scroll button

no reload

i cant actuially get konqueror to reproduce this error

it there a possibility that there's some mouse gesture thing happening?

i have changed my email client's preferences to use galeon instead which seems more stable

i was using opera but when i click on a link within an email, 2 instances of opera open with the page loading into the top instance

thanks for the help

Pressing the mouse wheel will put what ever is in the konqueror clipboard into the address bar.
If the clipboard is empty, which it will be if you have just started konqueror, pressing the mouse wheel will have no effect.

I have also had a problem with kde accepting double clicks when I only clicked once.
This is because I use a wacom graphire tablet and mouse. I had to adjust the threshold and suppress options in XFree86 to make it behave.
