Konqueror: symbols in front of and colors of filenames

I use the "long text mode" to display file information in konqueror. While I understand some of the symbols (and colors) I don't get others. Example: in the /dev directory there are special devices in blue (all of them? only the character special devices?) with either a "+" or "-" in front of them. Ahm, yes ... but what does it mean?

Is there a list / legend somewhere, so I can find out? I didn't find anything in the help- and control-centers...

Hmm, I never noticed that. For me, all the things in blue stand for "you don't have a clue what this is, leave it alone."

I seemingly can't google any better than you, as I can't find any information either.

Sound policy, but I'm trying to learn, one of my favourite pastimes ;). So this post is out of the zero-replies-threads but the question is still not answered ... :(.
