Konqueror Error
Umm, I am not sure what I did but I think I broke Konqueror. It was working and I logged out and back in while screwing around with getting Xine to play DVD's and now I get the following message whenever I try to open folders....
"There appears to be a configuration error. You have associated Konqueror with inode/directory, but it can't handle this file type."
What pray-tell does that mean, and how do I fix it? More importantly, why did it happen and how can I prevent it. I am using Nautilus in the meantime, which is nice, but I really like Konqueror better.
Thanks

It means something tells konqueror on starting it has to open something
it can't.
I have no idea how to fix it, but I'm sure you could get rid of it by deleting
~/.kde
That'll wipe your kde settings too, so be prepared to redo all your graphical
tweaking.

KDE stores the file associations in ~/.kde/share/applnk, deleting
this (or copying it somewhere else so you can edit/reuse it later)
should do the job.

Ok, I deleted ./kde/share/applnk. All gone, but still the same problem. I really don't want to lose all of my KDE settings is there another way?

Ok, I have now tried the following:
Deleted ./kde entirely. No workie.
Upgraded to KDE 3.2. Still no workie.
I am now completely at a loss. I can only use Konqueror for browsing the internet. I can't open diddly in the way of files. I am now reasonably certain that this is a file association error but really have no idea where to start. Here is the error below...
"There appears to be a configuration error. You have associated Konqueror with inode/directory, but it can't handle this file type."

Had the same problem, in my case the 'directory' association was wrong. Fixed by :
-Right click on any directory, choose Properties
-Select the 'Edit file type' icon
-Choose Konqueror, 'move up' to be the first
-Select the 'Embedding' tab and set to 'Show file in embedded viewer'
