KompoZer, Front page, oehr WYSIWYG web page tools
 

SO, as much as I have tried, I can not find a WYSIWYG web page authoring tool for linux. KompoZer used to be good, but now it seems that there is only a windows version, bluefish is not quite WYSIWYG, and well, it seems like they have all dried up.

Does anyone know of a decent WYSIWYG eb page authoring tool out there that wold work with SolydK or even Ubuntu or Mint?

just found one called gwrite.

VERY simple, almost too simple, but functional.

something a little more like KompoZer might be better though.

Kompozer for Linux still seems to be active, but hasn't been updated in a while.

I have used it and liked it, but found it worked best when used in conjunction with a text editor--their interface for text editing was a little clunky.

The old Netscape Compozer, which Kompozer is supposed to be similar to, used to be good and is now part of SeaMonkey

Hmmmmm, guess I don't know how to install these. Clicking on the download of either of these gives me the difault choice of opeing with Xarchiver. Once that window opens, it seems that I can "extract the files in th folder that appears. Then nothgin menaingful seems to happen after that. What am I missing?

It looks as if those download links point to compressed files containing source code. You would need to download them, decompress them, and then install from sources.

If your distro has repositories, try searching them for those programs and having the package manager install them.
