KOffice problems
Hello,
I just installed Debian 4.0 Etch (KDE) which has OpenOffice.org as standard equipment. I also wanted to try KOffice and I installed that myself. Much to my dismay, KOffice became the default for all office applications instead of OOo. Since KOffice is not good with Microsoft formats, I wanted OOo to be my default. I could not find where to change the default settings so I un-installed KOffice. Still to my dismay, KWord is still the default app for my .doc files and not OOo Writer even though it is gone. What can I do to make OOo my default. I would still like to have KOffice, but not as my default app. Thank you for your support! Darc-Vader |
Uninstall both?
Would it correct the dependencies if you uninstalled both and reinstalled koffice first. reverse happened here when i put open office in Slackware, openoffice was set to default (koffice is standard in slackware).

KOffice Problems
I was thinking about doing that.
In the meantime, I have found where the file associations live and corrected the defaults. Even with that done, the default icon for a .doc file is still KWord and not OOo Writer. Very odd. Thank you for your support! :) |
