a question:
does Koffice suite is comaptible with ms office ?
i.e a file created with kword can be read by ms word and viceversa ?
....the same question for all the applications in the package....

Sort of. KOffice has some support for Microsoft formats, but not much. You'll probably have better luck with OpenOffice. On the other hand, MS Office has zero support for KOffice formats.
