Know any good file managers?

Hi

For all of you Linux veterans: do you know any file manager, where i can easily set the program to automatically open certain file types with the program i choose? I use Gentoo (OS and file manager too) btw.

All contemporary GUI filemanagers I know do that.

Doesn't matter which one you use.

(Isn't that a basic feature of those things? :) )

nice ones that come to mind are:
rox
pcmanfm
thunar

rox is my favorite and its the one i use

I've come to like Nautilus more and more, but ROX is still my prefered one.

Rox is really really nice. Its fast, & has interesting config options that made it a pleasure to use.
Konqueror supports your requirement of opening file-types with specific apps too, go ahead with that if you intend to use the rest of the KDE suite as well.

Try Krusader if you use KDE.

one thing that rox is missing that i really would like... a back button

Ok, Rox is nice. Hm, is there a file manager besides Konqueror, that has tabs too?

Krusader, as i said, worth a try... It has tabs and much more nice features.

PCMan File Manager also has tabs.
