i am using knoppix as a test run of linux on my computer but when it starts to load my monitor goes black untill i shut down the pc and get a 2-3 sec. glimps of the knoppix screen... on my other computer it loaded fine but this one just blacks out after loading.
May be a good idea to post your hardware. We're not psychic. There are also boot time parameters that you can use if you press F2 (or maybe F3) at the "boot:" prompt.
I had this same problem with knoppix, probably something to do with the resolution. In the end I ended up switching to Mepis, which I think has better hardware detection and is alot easier to install to a hard disk, with a graphical installation tool right inside KDE.
sry about that i have an amd 2600+ with 512mb ram the graphics card is an intergraded prosavage 32mb and the monitor(if it matters) is a viewsonic pf775b
Go to knoppix.net and do a site search for the list of "cheat codes". Try booting with more and more general specifications for the relevant (display) aspects of your hardware. Also, ask them there about your problems using the forums.
