knoppix dvd boot up help

Hello all any help with my problem please,I am trying to use the knoppix live 5.0.1 dvd but my pc most of the time wont boot from it,most of the time I get isolinux:disk error 10,Ax=4210,drive EF press any key to retry,so I keep retrying and twice it has started to boot from it(after about 40 atempts)then when it does start loading I get message can't find knoppix file system sorry dropping you to a(very limited) shell.Press reset button to quit.Additional builtin commands available
cat mount umount
Insmod rmmod Ismod
I can boot from the same drive with the live 5.0.1 cd without any problem,Also I can boot with live dvd in another pc no problem,I have also made another copy of the live dvd at a slower speed but when I used that one I got the same results, the dvd drive I am using has latest fimware on it,also I tried to make a floppy with smart boot manager but was unsuccessful because when trying to boot with that in the pc it tells me to remove it,sorry if all this seems a bit long winded but I would like to sort it out, tia,pb.

Knoppix 5.0.1

Hi, had similar problems with the 5.0.1, it booted in failsafe only.I then created a home directory klicking on the penquin symbol and after that I created a root password also in the penquin symbol.I then did a root shell entering the root password ( there are no asterix )and at the prompt entered
/usr/sbin/knopix-installer. That set the whole thing into motion, but apparently because I have a dual-boot it would not proceed beyond hard disk partition. Anyway I tried the same with a spare HDD and everything went well, exept it took about 2 hours to install the OS, something wrong there, and the OS was actually slower than the CD.Also some applications got stuck( hung )and so I chucked it. I rather use the CD now.
Hope it gives you some starting point, Cheers Wallaby

Knoppix boot

Hi privatebribert,
when you boot the Knoppix DVD wait 'till you see a little sign in the bottom left hand corner of your screen that says "boot_".
Now you just type in failsafe and the whole thing should start to work. It will tell you that a few things will not be installed, but do not worry about this, the CD will work quite well.Once the total bootscreen is there, create a permanent
home directory and the next time you want to run Knoppix
type at the bootpromt knoppix home=scan and the page should load. Good luck! Wallaby
