Knoppix Debian DEB, RPM woes

I managed to get Knoppix Debian installed and configured with my elusive Broadcom 4400 and DHCPcd. There were errors when attempting to install DHCPcd and I was at my wits' end, so I simply disabled error checking and they installed and worked fine. Now when I try to uninstall a package (with apt-get) it says there are unchecked dependencies, and when I try to remedy them with apt-get -f install, it attempts to remove DHCPcd. I'm thinking that this is because I skipped the error checking and something messed up. I'm having trouble with RPM's and DEB's in general on my install, KPackage is giving me 'File not found' errors. If anyone could help me it would be greatly appreciated.

I haven't used DEBs but RPMs read a datafile and when you force something it screws it up. Try "rpm --rebuilddb" and see if that helps.

(In a term as root.)

It says it can't read the package index when I try that command. I'm thinking the paths got messed up somehow. This is a bummer because I can't download packages using KPackage. I'm in KDE 3.2 if that helps.

Well I feel silly now. Apparently DHCPcd is conflicting with pump, which is supposed to handle the DHCP stuff.
