Knoppic STD apps, into a normal Distro

Hey there. ive been using Knoppix 3.2 and Knoppix STD 0.1b for a couple of weeks, and have decided it is time to install a normal distro onto my laptops hard drive. Im thinking anything which will support my laptops monitor... I tried redhat 8.x earlier in the year and it wouldnt support the lcd and so i couldnt boot X.

But anyway, my point it, that i have really enjoyed some of the apps on knoppix std, and when i install my distro, i want to be able to copy these apps straight from the std cd and into my linux installation. can it be done? and how?

Any help -> much appreciated.

no_data, did you go to the knoppix web site. They have instructions on installing it to your harddrive. That way, you will have what you want.

hey no_data,
I just installed Knoppix to my HD last night, and it went better than I was expecting. A complete set of instructions is located here: http://www.freenet.org.nz/misc/knoppix-install.html

I am totally new to linux, (and just found this site last night) but it was the easiest installation i've been through yet... And everything works but my SoundBlaster, which apparently has lots of problems... so i'm still trying to work that one out. ;)

Good luck with the install.

I'm typing this on my HP Pavilion running an ex-Knoppix hdd-install (it becomes Debian testing/unstable, so it's long been changed through apt-get!)

If it's Debian with the easiest install you can can imaine thqt you want, go for it!

HTH
