KNetworkManager problem in SuSe 10.2

I set up my networking to run off of ifup. Despite this, KNetworkManager still shows up on the system tray. Every time I manually quit KNetworkManager, it loads up the next time I log onto SuSe. Any suggestions on how to disable KNetworkManager from loading every single time?

When you quit knetworkmanager, it should present a dialog to ask if you want to have it start up on startup. That may not be there however.

In that case, you will need to go to Configure KnetworkManager. Then there will be some checkbox to disable it starting up.

I had the same problem. I could not find a "Configure KNetworkManager" option anywhere but I found another solution: open the file ~/.kde/share/config/knetworkmanagerrc in a text editor and replace the line "Autostart=yes" with "Autostart=no".

Similar but slightly different problem & solution...
I had knetworkmanager show up twice in the system tray on opensuse 10.2, i had to go in and edit "~/.kde/share/config/ksmserverrc" and remove all references to knetworkmanager, and the other lines that were associated with it...

i believe this occured after i quit knetworkmanager from the system tray, and then started it back up under the root user.. it seems to have been added to this file to start back up, but also had it enabled under "~/.kde/share/config/knetworkmanagerrc" to Autostart=yes

Anyways, not the exact same issue, but maybe helpful to someone out there with the same problem.... this post did help lead me to the solution though, so THANKS!

You could uninstall knetworkmanager, just look for NetworkManager-KDE in Software Management.
