Kmail Minimum Font Size

Kmail Font Size Issue

Hello. I'm trying to set a minimum font size in Kmail. I've set the size using the settings -> configure kmail -> appearance dialog for every type of text, but on some messages (HTML format, maybe?) the message shows up as very small text and I can't find a way to make it larger (e.g., at least 12 point). This is the case in both the message preview pane and also when I fully open the message in its own window.

I've tried:
1. Changing the font size using Settings -> Configure Kmail -> Appearance dialog for every type of text (e.g. message body, etc, etc)
2. Right-clicking on the message and choosing to use the "Fixed Font".
3. With the message in its own window, using the toolbar option to change the font size to a larger one (e.g., from 12 pt to 16 pt). In this case, the font size for the message header changes, but not the text of the message.

Is there a configuration file I can use to over-ride the font size for certain types of messages, like HTML? Or any other solution someone can suggest?

I'm on Kbuntu 8.04 using KDE 3.59, Kmail 1.9.9.

Thanks for your help.
Dave

Did you try the font configuration in the KDE-control center (i.e. not only for Kmail)?

Yes, tried that...

In response to the last post, yes, I did try to change the font configuration in the KDE-control center (i.e. not only for Kmail). I was able to change a number of fonts displayed, but the problem font -- the body of the message -- was not changed. Still a very small font.

Other suggestions are appreciated.

This is just during display of the message or also when you write / edit a new one?

<long shot mode> How large are the fonts in other applications like Konqueror or Kate? Would changing size there influence Kmail?

Hi... in answer to the first question, it is just during the display of received messages marked as a type of "HTML" (but only some of those messages... maybe HTML messages with certain types of tags embedded?). The font sizes display as expected when I compose a message.

The fonts in other K-Desktop apps look fine. I am able to change fonts in other KDE apps using the normal KDE control center fonts dialogs.

Okay, what I meant is this: change the font size in Konqueror to very large and open the mail again. Change? (Reason: it is rendered HTML -- for what that is worth).

Btw.: Can you change the font size in the mail by pressing <CTRL> and turning the scroll wheel of your mouse (or <CTRL><+> / <CTRL><->)?

Ok... thanks for the clarification.

I tried the suggestion quoted above as well as increasing the font size within Konqueror using the configuration screens, but unfortunately it didn't have an impact.

I'm not positive, but I think some HTML messages must be coming across with specific font sizes embedded in the source that are not over-ridden by Kmail. Other HTML messages come across with either no specific size information, or maybe a different type of HTML tag where Kmail is able to override the information and increase the font size. I can provide samples of both types of HTML messages (although I don't see anywhere that I can attach them to this message). If anyone thinks that will help, let me know and let me know where I can post / send samples of the two types of HTML messages.

Thanks for the help.

That's why I asked for the (re)-action to use of the scroll-wheel. If you don't get any changes there, I'd guess your best choice would be a question / bug report on the Kmail mailing list.
