Kmail error

I have been getting the following error with Kmail when sending a message (SMTP used):

Sending failed:
The server did not accept the sender address.
The server responded: "5.5.4 <"Thom A. Holwerda" <>>... Domain name required for sender address "
The message will stay in the 'outbox' folder until you either fix the problem (e.g. a broken address) or remove the message from the 'outbox' folder.
Note: Other messages will also be blocked by this message, as long as it is in the 'outbox' folder
The following transport protocol was used:
smtp.quicknet.nl

In another thread someone said something about changing your username to " someone@whatever.com" but I don't have to fill out a username anywhere with Kmail...

Help appreciated :(

Go to Settings...Configure Kmail.
Click Identities in left panel
Choose Thom A. Holwerda
Click Modify in right panel
Enter your e-mail under the 'general' tab.

That should fix it.
Hope it does!

I get your point, it indeed doesn't say my email adress after my name ("from Thom A. Holwerda <>" or something). Between those "<>" should be my email address.

However, I already entered my email address there... So, no luck yet!

Open for suggestions! (It's probably gonna be something really stupid anyway :) )

Thanks

Thom

Delete the mail that is stuck in your out-box - I think it is rejected because:

"Domain name required for sender address"

It will never go because it is not properly constructed. So delete it. Now...

Do the stuff I suggested in my last post and put your FULL e-mail addr in the third box down under the 'general' tab. It should look like zzz@123.sss.nl , maybe you mistyped it?

Then try to send another e-mail
Let me know...

What the... It worked...!

The weird thing is, I never changed a thing; I already had my emaill address fully typed there.. Anyway...

Thanks!

Thom
