Kmail back up
 

Hello

I'm using KDE 3.0 and Kmail as base mail application. Now, I want to reinstall the system, there is a way to back up the emails that are in KMAIL I looked in the KMAIL manual can't find anything. Any advice will be apreciated.

P.S I found that kmail "SENT" messages store on /var/spool/mail directory

There should be a directory Mail in your user directory that contains all your Kmail folders as directories.
Copy the whole directory to back it up.

BUT, be careful. I did a back up of mine with Konqueror and screwed something up. It's a long road to reconstruct the directory relationships if you do that. Now I use mc to do the back up.

OK, look in your Kmail folders for a folder with a unique name like genealogy.
Got to a terminal window and do a locate for that name.
It should show you the path/location of that file/directory.

Ok I found the directory, but the emails are stored in such files below:

Example:

1032278425.5102.uiQN:2,S 1032964116.1607.40PY:2,S

Is it ok?

Also each directory or folder containt these 3 subdirectories: cur new tmp
