KMail address book migration problem

I'm moving to a different machine and want to move my Kmail addressbook. I tried the obvious first: find the file and move it, but I gave up after fifteen minutes. Its no where I could find. So then I tried the GUI approach: export it on the old machine and import it on the new one. Same version of KMail (same SuSE 8.0 distro). It seems it doesn't read its own exported file format. It comes up with a spreadsheet with my data in it, and I'm supposed to identify the colums (which it ought to be able to do, since the labels are right there at the top of each one). I did this, and associated them with the import labels and hit "Okay" and got nothing but blank space. Lots of blank space.

I tried it several different ways, always the same result. Does anyone know how to do this? Or where the addressbook is kept?

Thanks

hi
don't know what causes the migration trouble (permissions ??)
but mine lives here;
/home/gerrit/.kde/share/apps/kab/
and it is named addressbook.kab
that is if you are using the kaddressbook as kmail's default
otherwise might that be the cause of your trouble
good luck

Thanks. As it turns out, there was nothing in the .kde/share/apps/kab directory, but looking around there I found where they were kept: in .kde/share/apps/kabc/std.vcf

I moved that file over to the new system and everything was as it should be. Thanks again.
