No, no - you misunderstand Kino is fine, all you need to do is get rid of the add-in filters that are packaged as "kinoplus" and everything will work. Just minus a few video filters that didn't work anyway.

Yea I found it in packages.debian.org. It does not build thou, requires Gnome base libraries. Kino builds fine without Gnome, plugins don't. Go figure, I do not feel like I want to install half of Gnome for a plugin.

Yeah, I do feel that if it's to "survive", kinoplus needs a MAJOR overhaul(both to fix these errors, and make it easier to compile) - and what with it no longer being maintained, I can't really see that happening. I might be tempted to try and resserect the Effect-TV filter, because I'm kinda lost without it. BUT I do tend to regard C/C++ programming as a bit of a chore these days.

I'm assuming that someone else set up your system for you, this is based on the fact that you have:

>>> Registering plugin /usr/lib/kino-gtk2/libcrtbrtplugin.so
>>> Registering plugin /usr/lib/kino-gtk2/libhsvplugin.so

And these plugins come from a non-standard repository.

Now that you've used "apt" or "synaptic" (package managers) to uninstall kinoplus can you re-post the results of typing "kino" in a terminal window.

Once this is all sorted out it should be quite "safe" to reinstall the "Contrast and Brightness plugin" and the "HSV colour space plugin" - these are causing no problems on my setup.

Personally on seeing a brightness and contrast plugin, I thought "YES! About ******* time!"

Okay! There seem to be two issues at work here (sorry about being slow on the uptake, but I came in a bit late on all this)

One is the string of error messages that is caused by kinoplus not being maintained anymore.

But there is another issue at work here too. I'm WONDERING if your repositories are set up correctly. If you go into Synaptic (or whatever package manager you use) what version of kino does it say you have installed?

Oh that's ok that you came in late. I have uninstalled Kino again because I got tired of trying so I don't know what version it is. Oh hang on when I do a search in the package manager it says .92-3 but it is not installed ofcourse.

Um those plugins.....ummmmm someone advised me to get those I think. I don't remember. I set up the system and have installed everything this time round. I have had Debian installed before but this time I had no physical help. Well I probably visited some forums.

Well I installed Ubuntustudio that has Kino in the os plus other goodies so if anyone else reads this it might be the solution.
