Kindle for Linux
I have Kindle PC on my Windows notebook computer which lets me download and read Kindle e-books on the notebook. Is there an equivalent app for Linux so I can do the same with my Linux notebook?
If not, is it possible to run Kindle PC under Wine? I haven't had great success in learning to use Wine. For example, I tried to install Winamp, but wasn't successful. I'm not very experienced in Linux, so I'm not interested in anything that takes a lot of knowledge/skill, especially command line. I'm running Mint - Feisty, I think, but not sure and not sure how to find out. I switched from Kubuntu to Mint because it claims to be more suited to someone like myself who just wants to be a user, on an alternate OS to Windows. Thanks! Optiker |
Sorry...ignore post.
I found in digging around my Mint installation that PlayOnLinux is installed and that I can install the Kindle app through it. Just did it but not yet tested, but it opens with no errors. Didn't expect to find PlayOnLinux in the GAMES group! :) Optiker |
Will Calibre work?

The Kindle Cloud Reader works:

I've seen recommendations for both Calibre and the Cloud Reader. The fact is that I installed Kindle PC by way of PlayOnLinux/Wine and it works great. It is critical that I can download so I can read without an Internet connection.

Came across a download-book was interested in looking at, so tried Calibre soon found myself enjoying reading books again :-)
