killing artsd

Hello, I would like to kill artsd once and for all. I would like to know two things:
1. Would killing artsd damage anything else?
Everything seems to run fine when I kill the process, but does anything depend on it that I don't know of.

2. How would I do so?
I'm getting somewhat annoyed of constantly killing artsd.

Thanks for any help

Just go to Sound & Multimedia -> Sound System in the KDE control panel, and uncheck Start KDE sound-server on start-up. The only diference is that only one process will be able to use the soundcard at any given time (if you're not running EsounD, or something similar).
