Kicker Panel not updating application list (suse9.1 kde3.3 x11r6.8.1)
I'm running Suse 9.1 and just upgraded to KDE3.3, which went very well, and then after a week, upgraded to x.org's X11R6.8.1 . I keep my system regularly patched through YOU.
Since then, the kicker panel will not update its display when I start a new program. When KDE first starts, the only thing that will show on the panel is ksplash, but that does not go away once ksplash is finished running. I can refresh the panel's view by entering at a konsole Code:
dcop kicker Panel restart While troubleshooting this problem, I found that root's panel is OK. It updates without issue. From this, I also learned that a newly created user's panel works normally as well. I am guessing (wildly) that something is messed up in ~/.kde/share/config, but no setting in kickerrc seems to apply to this problem. I don't want to abandon my current user profile -- I've gotten everything customized and tricked out just the way I like it. But I can't continue to use KDE in this weirdly crippled state. What am I missing? Does anyone have any ideas? |
I've got the same problem. If in the meantime you found a solution, I would be very glad to hear about it.
Thanks a lot. |
I've got my solution. I just deleted kickerrc and started kde again. Afterwords I got a working panel running which I could easily customize again.
