Kernel version not matched for VMware

Hi
I am currently using Mandrake 10.1 Powerpack. My kernelversion is 2.6.8.1-12mdk.
When i install the vmware i point to the kernel location which is by default /usr/src/linux but it says that it does not match the installed version and that it needs a correct source

The directory of kernel headers (version 2.4.27-0.pre2.1mdk) does not match your
running kernel (version 2.6.8.1-12mdk). Even if the module were to compile
successfully, it would not load into the running kernel.

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running
kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]

i havent installed any new kernel............just the default things............
Thanks

VMWare only natively works with 2.4.x series kernels. There's a hack around for this, you'll probably want to try googling and or this site, I know it was mentioned once here at LQ but I for the life of me don't know off the top of my head and too tired to search..
