Kernel upgrade error.....
Hello All, I have a dedicated server in a remote location (internationally) running RH7.3. I applied the following kernel to fix the recently reported exploit, and got the following error: root@pacific [/]# up2date --nox -f kernel Fetching package list for channel: redhat-linux-i386-7.3... ######################################## Fetching Obsoletes list for channel: redhat-linux-i386-7.3... ######################################## Testing package set / solving RPM inter-dependencies... ######################################## kernel-2.4.20-18.7.i686.rpm ########################## Done. Preparing... ########################################### [100%] Installing... 1:kernel ########################################### [100%] stdin: is not a tty stdin: is not a tty stdin: is not a tty fatal error: unable to find a suitable template Any ideas what the error above means? Please help. |
Are you running X?
|
no I am not using X.

I'm not a redhat person however does the up2date utility have any rules concerning updating critical software (such as the kernel) remotely? ie... do you have to be logged in locally to update the kernel?
