kernel reconfigure

hi..

I'm not really fimiliar with reconfiguring and recompiling the kernel... I wish to add some stuff, but I've never done it before.

Can anybody give me a hint? I know there is some sort of menu-config thing, where you can check "boxes" ( ) and stuff like that..

Or maby someone has a great link for a manual?

TLDP has a kernel how-to but it is RH specific I believe. However if you go to kernel.org and get a release and untar and unzip it it comes with a README file that has cursory instructions and if you read the TLDP guide you MAY make it thru it...although it is not exactly a walk in the park if you are new to it. But how do we learn? :)

I have hosed dozens of installs with a wrong selection or compile...what the hell. That's why we are here right? :)

http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=49035, straight from the slackware forum :) works perfectly well every time ... as for which elements you need, just don't erase too many things at once ;)
