Kernel Recompile & switch distros
Hello everyone,
I am having trouble getting some of the Slackware 10 kernels to work on my computer (they freeze at hardware detection stage during bootup, and cause all sorts of warnings to appear before that). If I compile a kernel on my Debian system and then copy it over to my Slackware partition and update Lilo, will there be any problems with the kernel being in a new environment? Thanks ahead for your time. -Preston |
yea i think you need to use the newer compiler on the slackware system
(same compiler used on glibc) but it's worth a try.....can't hurt give us the error logs from the bad boots and possibly we can see wat's wrong |
