kernel panic( rescue 911)


i compiled new version of kernel 2.6.0 instead of 2.4.18 in red hat linux 8.0 following errer comes
kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init = option to kernel.
i dont know what to do is there any one who can help me to get out of this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please search the forums before creating a new thread. This question has been asked several times in the LQ forums. You probably require an initrd image for the 2.6 kernel. Also please read the documents on compiling a 2.6 series kernel as lots of stuff has changed since 2.4 days.
Also, update your modutils package.
