Unhappy Kernel panic problem


Got a server running Slackware

With the specs

intel cpu
onboard highpoint controler
pci promise controler
120 gb hardrive.

Last week i whated to remove the promise controler and move the the drive to onboard high point controler. It find the drive starts to boot and then i get kernel panic Unable to mount root 21.01 or something.

I have changed


refleckt the changes but i still get kernel could it be that the kernel dont like my high point controler 366 ?

Yeah, does your kernel have a driver for it? Cause if it couldn't recognize my hands, I'd panic too.

did you run lilo after changing the /etc/lilo.conf file?
I had a similar problem because I forgot to do this when rebuilding my kernel. I had to bootup by floppy and run lilo to "remap" the drives.

thx for the help i just typed lilo and that did the trick
