Kernel Panic happens after trying to write the ext3 files system to my secondary drv

Kernel Panic happens after trying to write the ext3 files system to my secondary drive.

It runs fine off the primary drive.

It gets about 1% done, then the box goes to kernel panic.

I tried 3 new harddrives and upgraded to the latest kernel with yum.

Any ideas what could be causing this?

CentOS 4.3 SATA Drives 2.6.9-34.0.2.ELsmp

Thanks in advance.

are you writing to ide hard drives or sata drives? is the ide or sata controllers built into your kernel config?

maybe you have to modprobe your ide or sata controllers.

Yes, I am using the rpm kernel which has that. Both are SATA drives.

Maybe hardware ??? - try a different cable.
Also try using dd to write something (anything) to the drive to ensure you have access to the entire drive, and (perhaps) help isolate the issue to the fs driver.
