OK folks, here's the update. I booted off of a CD that had Linux OS and some software tools. I ran "XFS_repair" on dev/sda2 and it spit out a bunch of messages. Too fast to read, but I could see it found something. On the next attempt to boot the hard drive, it came up 100 % ! This was done on the clone as a safety measure. I brought the actual drive back to the customers site and installed it. I again ran XSF_repair and, as expected, it did the same thing as the cloned drive. The next boot-up was complete and the machine is running. Thank you all for the information and guidance, I plan to dive into Linux to get more familiar with the basics, at least. Trial by fire is NOT the way to learn !
