Kernel Panic

I use Gentoo 1.4 .. today linux froze up .. i rebooted and no it gives me "kernel panic", stating it can't mount my root partition which is reiserfs. .. I booted of a disk, tried to mount it myself and nothing .. fdisk -l shows that it's there. I'm guessing the problem is due to the fact that it didn't unmount .. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Sean

Check your lilo.conf or grub.conf.... is it properly setup. It seems like you linux don't know where is your "/" partition.
