Kernel / Lilo question

I update my kernels with "up2date -f kernel-x", i can see the changes in lilo.conf and after a reboot the new kernel is loaded (/proc/version)

My Questions:
1. Do i have to remove the old kernels for security?
2. Do i have to do something else like running lilo manually?

Please let me know if i forgot something!

This is not mandatory, unless your old kernel have some security hole like version 2.4.22
(more details here) or if your system is a closed box with no network connection. You can consider to test the new kernel for some time before remove the old one.

It's likely that the update have already done it because the new kernel boots.
