It sounds like your kernel isn't compressed and thus, too big. Are you sure you copied the bzipped kernel image?
Also, you need to run "lilo" every time you install a new kernel image.
If you built the kernel from source, you might want to copy the files yourself instead of using "make install" (If you didn't use "make install" then this part doesn't apply). So far, every kernel I've built hasn't been installed properly by make install. The /usr/src/linux/System.map file needs to be copied to /boot/System.map, /usr/src/.config needs to be copied to /boot/config. And lilo needs to be run... but I think not running lilo just produces kernel panic.... ?
Anyway, for all I know, you've done all those steps already. =P
haha I believe I have, I have installed the system.map to the /boot etc. I followed a guide that worked for me before to the T. Now I am unable to get in there and edit lilo.conf. what steps should I take from here. I am in windows and I hate it help me
If you need to edit lilo.conf, use a boot disk. I don't know about "Yoper V2" but with slackware, the first cd can be used as a rescue disk from which you can mount your root linux partition.
As for the kernel problem, maybe it would help if you listed what steps you followed? Like what file you copied for your kernel, etc. I don't have a good enough picture of what you've done so far to suggest anything further in that regard.
