Kernel Compiling not possible, Directory /usr/src/linux-2.4 isn't there
I installed RH 9 and I'm trying to recompile the kernel
According to the books I bought (RH 9.0) there should be a directory /usr/src/linux-2.4. But if I'm looking in the directory /usr/src, I only see a directory called debug. Can anyone tell me how I should solve this problem. Why isn't it there? |
yes that means you didn't install it..
so either get it off your distros cd's, or use the graphical tool for packages in redhat and install development tools which will also require your distros cds, but its easier this way, if you can't find it, just type redhat-config-packages in the terminal and it will fire up... (recommended) or go to www.kernel.org (or anywheres you find the source) and extract it to that folder... |
like the man said
you need to install the source files before you have that directory. one of my hard-earned lessons ;)

I'm new to this. Could you tell me which package I should install and how I should do this?

Thanks everyone. you solved the problem for me.
I got a answer from another Linux forum how to install it. |
