Arrow Kernel Compilation

Hi All,

I am using RHEL 4 update 6 and kernel version is 2.6.9-67.ELsmp in my testing environment. I have never done Kernel compilation so I need a gud link for this environment to do kernel compilation for testing purpose.
One more thing I want to do it using tar not by rpm ?

Please advise !
Thanks
Aki
